Independent greenhouse gas assurance

Carbon Footprint
& GHG Validation
/ Verification

Credible carbon information starts with independent evidence. One destination for organisational inventories, product footprints, GHG projects and bioenergy supply chains.

Defined scope. Traceable evidence. An independent conclusion.

The right scope, from the start

Four services.
One clear starting point.

Choose the information you need assessed. We define the criteria, boundaries and intended use before the engagement begins.

01 / ORGANISATION

Your organisation’s GHG inventory

For companies reporting emissions across facilities and operations, with relevant value-chain categories included in the agreed scope.

  • Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3
  • ISO 14064-1 or GHG Protocol criteria
  • Defined reporting period and entities
Discuss organisational verification ↗
02 / PRODUCT

Your product’s carbon footprint

For manufacturers and suppliers responding to buyer requests for credible emissions information about a specific product.

  • ISO 14067 quantification criteria
  • Full or partial life-cycle boundaries
  • Product data, allocation and assumptions
Discuss product verification ↗
03 / GHG PROJECTS

Project validation & verification

For projects reporting emission reductions or enhanced removals, from forward-looking project assumptions to historical results.

  • ISO 14064-2 project criteria
  • Baseline, monitoring and project scenarios
  • Validation or verification under ISO 14064-3
Discuss your GHG project ↗
04 / BIOENERGY

Your fuel & supply-chain GHG calculation

For bioenergy operators with scheme-specific emissions calculations, supply-chain evidence and greenhouse gas saving claims.

  • Applicable ISCC scheme requirements
  • Feedstock, processing and transport
  • Emissions allocation and saving calculations

The engagement, explained

The right assessment.
The right level of confidence.

Agree the type of engagement and the intended users before work begins. Verification does not provide absolute assurance.

LOOKING FORWARD

Validation

Evaluates whether assumptions, methods and projected information provide a reasonable basis for a future outcome.

Typical subject: a project plan or forecast.
LOOKING BACK

Verification

Evaluates historical emissions information and reported results against the criteria agreed for the engagement.

Typical subject: an annual GHG inventory or product footprint.

Reasonable assurance

A high, but not absolute, level of assurance for verification, supported by more extensive evidence gathering and testing.

Limited assurance

A lower level of assurance, with a different nature and extent of procedures. The approach and conclusion are defined for the engagement.

ISO 14064-1, ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14067 address the relevant subject matter. ISO 14064-3 provides requirements for the validation or verification process. Applicable programme requirements are considered separately.

More than a calculation check

Confidence starts
with the evidence.

We assess the GHG statement against agreed criteria through a risk-based validation or verification process. The engagement defines what is covered, the assurance level and materiality.

Define your scope ↗
01 —

Boundaries & completeness

Organisational or product boundaries, reporting period, sources, exclusions and the basis for including emissions.

02 —

Data & calculation integrity

Activity data, source records, emission factors, units, methodologies, allocation and material assumptions.

03 —

Traceability & reporting

Evidence trails, data controls, consistency and whether the reported statement is supported by the available evidence.

A transparent process

From your statement
to an independent conclusion.

Know what to prepare, what we review and what you receive at the end of the engagement.

01 / AGREE

Set the engagement

Confirm the engagement type, intended use, criteria, boundaries, assurance level, materiality, impartiality and schedule.

02 / ASSESS

Review the evidence

Assess risks and sample supporting records. Conduct interviews and site visits where needed.

03 / RESOLVE

Address findings

Your team responds to identified discrepancies and supplies corrections or additional evidence.

04 / CONCLUDE

Independent review

The work undergoes independent review before the verification conclusion is issued.

Your deliverable ↗

A validation or verification statement identifying the assessed information, criteria, scope, relevant period, assurance level and conclusion, with qualifications or limitations where applicable. Unresolved material matters or insufficient evidence may modify or prevent an opinion.

Independence & impartiality

An opinion grounded
in evidence.

Conflicts of interest are assessed before acceptance and throughout the engagement. Threats that cannot be managed to an acceptable level can prevent us from accepting or continuing the work.

01Conflict checks and relevant personnel declarations
02No assessment of work prepared by the assigned V&V team
03Fees are not conditional on a favourable conclusion
04Independent technical review before authorisation
Before you begin

A few useful
distinctions.

What does accreditation mean for my engagement?

The organisational and project ISO 14064 services described on our existing GHG service page are offered on an unaccredited basis. Acceptance must be confirmed with the intended recipient. Product and ISCC engagements require separate confirmation of the applicable scope and recognition; no blanket accreditation claim is made here.

Does verification cover all sustainability disclosures?

No. GHG verification covers the emissions information agreed in the engagement. It may support climate reporting, including Bursa Malaysia or IFRS S2 disclosures, but does not by itself establish compliance with an entire reporting framework.

Is this the same as SBTi target validation?

No. Verified emissions data can support your baseline and progress reporting. Validation of science-based targets is a separate process carried out by SBTi Services.

What should we prepare for a quotation?

Share the type of verification, reporting year, number and location of sites, relevant standard or customer requirement, available GHG report and target completion date. For products, include the product and life-cycle boundary.

Can you verify a footprint that you prepared?

Independence and impartiality must be assessed before accepting an engagement. Calculation support and verification require appropriate separation; the proposed arrangement is reviewed before work begins.

Does project verification automatically create carbon credits?

No. A GHG project assessment does not by itself register a project or issue carbon credits. The relevant programme’s methodology, registration, verifier eligibility and issuance rules apply separately.

What does materiality mean?

Materiality considers both numerical thresholds and the nature or circumstances of a matter. Misstatements, exclusions and evidence gaps are evaluated to determine their effect on the conclusion.

How long does verification take?

Timing depends on the number of sites or products, data readiness, complexity, site visits and the resolution of findings. We confirm a proposed schedule after reviewing your scope.

Will the statement meet our customer’s requirements?

Share the intended recipient’s requirements at the outset, including any accreditation or scheme recognition conditions. Scope, eligibility and the intended use of the statement must be confirmed before engagement.
